
LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Scorching hot temperatures are sticking around across Southern California this week before rain chances roll in over the weekend.
An Extreme Heat Watch is in effect for much of Southern California, and it has been extended through next Thursday.
A Heat Advisory for much of Southern California has been extended through next Tuesday at 10 a.m., with triple-digit heat expected for some areas.

An Extreme Heat Watch is also in effect for much of Los Angeles County, Ventura County the Santa Clarita Valley and the San Gabriel Valley.

The hottest temperatures are in our desert communities, where an Extreme Heat Warning is in place through Friday at 8 p.m., with highs up to 115 degrees.

Wednesday and Thursday are expected to be the hottest days before a slight cooldown moves in on Friday. With that slight cooldown, a chance of humid weekend showers moves in.
ABC7 has issued a Weather Change Alert on Sunday, when humidity brings chances of rain, and even thunderstorms to Southern California.
Los Angeles and Orange counties on Thursday will see a hot and sunny day with a high of 91 degrees and a low of 64. Temperatures are expected to drop a few degrees as we head toward the end of the week, with a 10% chance of rain moving in on Sunday.
The valleys and Inland Empire can expect sunny and hot conditions on Thursday, with a high of 101 degrees and a low of 61. Highs are expected to fall to the low-90s by the weekend, before rain chances begin on Sunday.
Beach communities on Thursday will see mostly sunny skies with a high of 77 degrees and a low of 64.
Mountain communities will see sunny and hot yet breezy conditions on Thursday, with a high of 88 degrees and a low of 51. When rain chances move in on Sunday, mountain communities will see several days with thunderstorm chances.
Desert areas on Thursday will see a high of 105 degrees and a low of 72. Palm Springs is expected to reach a scorching 115 degrees. The deserts will see triple-digit heat all week.
