SoCal to see drop in temperatures as rain chances move in this week

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A cut-off flow is moving into Southern California, dropping temperatures and bringing a chance for showers.

A 10 to 20% chance of showers moves in overnight Monday into Tuesday morning for most of the region. Some areas will see rain chances up to 40% before the short-lived system moves out by Wednesday. Up to 1/4-inch of rain is forecasted.

With those rain chances come a drop in temperatures, with most areas seeing highs in the mid-to-upper 60s and low-70s.

Los Angeles and Orange counties on Monday will see sunny skies with a high of 76 degrees and a low of 53. Highs are expected to drop to the upper-60s on Tuesday, with a 40% chance of showers.

The valleys and Inland Empire on Monday can expect sunny skies and gusty winds, with a high of 79 degrees and a low of 51. Highs are expected to drop to the mid-to-low-70s when rain chances arrive by Tuesday.

Beaches on Monday will see partly cloudy skies with a high of 66 degrees and a low of 55. A 20% chance of showers arrives on Tuesday.

Mountain communities on Monday can expect sunshine and gusty winds with a high of 61 degrees and a low of 30.

Desert areas on Monday will be partly sunny with a high of 78 degrees and a low of 42. Palm Springs is expected to reach 91 degrees. Desert areas have a better chance of seeing showers at 30% on Tuesday.
