June gloom returns as beach hazard warning issued for SoCal coast

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- After several hot and sunny days, a mid-week cooldown has moved in, bringing the return of thicker cloud cover and June Gloom conditions.

A Beach Hazard Statement is in effect until Friday at 11 p.m. for areas south of Orange County to San Diego due to unsafe beach conditions. Three to 6-foot waves and rip currents are expected.

Los Angeles and Orange counties on Friday will see cloudy skies, with a high of 73 degrees and a low of 58. The marine layer is expected to stick around through the weekend.

The valleys and Inland Empire on Friday can expect a high of 78 degrees and a low of 53. Temperatures are expected to drop into the high 70s by the weekend.

Beaches will see cloudy skies on Friday, with a high of 70 degrees and a low of 59 with a small chance of drizzle.

Mountain communities can expect sunshine on Friday, with a high of 75 degrees and a low of 39. Similar conditions are expected through the weekend.

The deserts on Friday will see sunny and warm conditions with a high of 88 degrees and a low of 54. Palm Springs is expected to reach a high of 102 degrees.
