Extreme heat warning, advisories remain in SoCal amid scorching temps

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Extreme heat remains in Southern California as another area of high pressure moves into the region.

The heat wave brings back scorching temperatures through the weekend. Most of the region will be under either an extreme heat warning or a heat advisory through 8 p.m. Sunday.

A high surf advisory for much of the coast could bring 4-to-8-foot waves. It expires Saturday at 5 p.m. A coastal flood advisory is also in place through Saturday at 3 a.m.

Los Angeles and Orange counties on Saturday will see sunshine with a high of 94 degrees and a low of 70. Similar conditions are on tap Sunday before temperatures dip slightly on Monday.

In the valleys and Inland Empire, temperatures on Saturday are expected to reach a high of 105 degrees and a low of 71. Triple-digit temperatures are expected to stick around through the weekend before a slight dip starting Tuesday.

Beach communities can expect sunshine on Saturday, with a high of 81 degrees and a low of 68. Expect waves of 3 to 6 feet.

Mountain communities on Saturday are expected to see a high of 91 degrees, which would be a record. The low will be 59. Temperatures are expected to dip into the upper 80s on Sunday.

Desert areas will be dangerously hot on Saturday, with a high of 107 degrees and a low of 72. Palm Springs is expected to reach 120 degrees.
