LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A warmup is coming to Southern California, with some parts expected to see temperatures in the 90s by the end of the week.
Wednesday will get off to a cloudy start as May gray lingers in the region. The warmup becomes noticeable on Thursday when a dome of high pressure moves in, bringing sunshine and less marine layer. Temperatures are expected to peak on Saturday.
Los Angeles and Orange counties on Wednesday can expect a mix of morning clouds and afternoon sunshine, along with a high of 73. Temperatures climb to the low 80s on Friday.
The valleys and the Inland Empire on Wednesday will be in the upper 70s. Sunny and warm weather is expected on Thursday and it could jump into the 90s on Friday.
In the beaches on Wednesday, sunshine will break through in the afternoon after a cloudy start to the day. Expect a high of 65 and a low of 54.
The mountains will be sunny and mild. The high will reach 60 and the low will be 38. Temperatures will gradually increase heading into the weekend.
Deserts will be in the 80s on Wednesday, but temperatures climb to the mid-90s by Friday. Palm Springs is expected to experience triple-digit heat this weekend.
