Say goodbye to extreme heat! Cooldown arrives in Southern California
LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Relief is in sight after several days of extreme heat across Southern California.
A significant cooldown arrives Friday. Temperatures will drop about 10 to 12 degrees in some areas. However, despite the cooldown, temperatures will still be fairly hot in much of SoCal.
With subtropical moisture and humidity still in the atmosphere for some areas, rain and thunderstorm chances linger all week for our mountain and desert communities.
ABC7 has issued a Weather Change Alert for Friday as the temperatures begin to fall back down to where we should be for this time of year.
Los Angeles and Orange counties on Friday will see a high of 84 degrees and a low of 66. Similar conditions are on tap through the weekend.
The valleys and Inland Empire on Friday can expect a high of 94 degrees and a low of 66. Similar conditions are in the forecast for the weekend.
Beach communities on Friday will see a high of 77 degrees and a low of 66. Temperatures will continue dropping through the weekend and into next week before starting to climb back up.
Mountain communities will see a 30% chance of thunderstorms on Friday, with a high of 79 degrees and a low of 50. Thunderstorm chances linger in the forecast all week.
Desert areas on Friday will see sunny skies with a high of 97 degrees and a low of 76. Palm Springs is expected to reach 105 degrees.
