Extreme heat warning, advisories remain in SoCal amid scorching temps

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Extreme heat remains in Southern California as another area of high pressure sits above the region.

The heat wave brings back scorching temperatures through the weekend. Most of the region will be under either an extreme heat warning or a heat advisory through 11 p.m. Monday.

Although temperatures will still be hot on Sunday, most areas will see about a three- to five-degree dip in temps compared to Saturday.

Los Angeles and Orange counties on Sunday will see sunshine with a high of 91 degrees and a low of 71. Temperatures are expected to dip back into the upper-80s by Monday.

In the valleys and Inland Empire, temperatures on Sunday are expected to reach a high of 101 degrees and a low of 72. A slight dip in temperatures brings highs to the upper-90s for most of the week.

Beach communities can expect clouds in the morning followed by afternoon sunshine on Sunday, with a high of 78 degrees and a low of 68. Expect waves between 2 and 4 feet.

Mountain communities on Sunday will see a high of 89 degrees and a low of 60. Expect highs in the mid-to-upper 80s all week.

Desert areas will be dangerously hot on Sunday, with a high of 105 degrees and a low of 73. Palm Springs is expected to reach 116 degrees.
