SoCal winds ramp up as temps climb heading into the weekend

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Parts of Southern California will be under a wind advisory Friday as temperatures heat up heading into the weekend.

The wind advisory will remain through 2 p.m. Friday for Ventura County and parts of Los Angeles County, such as the Santa Clarita Valley and western San Fernando Valley. In Orange County and the Inland Empire, the wind advisory isn't expected to expire until 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, a ridge of high pressure developing brings an offshore flow that warms up the region. Afternoon highs start climbing Friday and the warmup is expected to peak on Saturday.

Expect another change in weather next week when a chance of rain arrives.

Los Angeles and Orange counties on Friday will be in the low 80s, with sunshine and breezy conditions on tap. Conditions will be slightly warmer on Saturday before the cooldown arrives.

The valleys and Inland Empire on Friday could see gusts up to 35 mph amid a high of 82 and a low of 48. Temperatures bump up to the upper 80s on Saturday.

Beaches will be in the low 70s through the weekend.

Mountain areas will be windy and sunny on Friday, with a high of 55 and a low of 30. Gusts are expected to reach 50 mph.

Deserts on Friday will see gusty winds, with a high of 67. Wind gusts won't be as strong on Saturday, but temperatures jump to around 80 degrees.
