VIDEO: Monsoon thunderstorms, rain, lightning strikes Southland

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (KABC) -- Monsoon thunderstorms brought heavy rain, gusty winds and powerful lightning strikes across parts of Southern California Tuesday.

The summer storm forced the temporary closure of Los Angeles County beaches.

National Weather Service forecasters said the storms produced wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph, with gusts reaching 50 mph in the mountains.

The monsoonal moisture is expected to remain in the area through Friday, bringing the continued chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms in the mountains and Antelope Valley.
