SOUTH PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- Caltrans will soon be selling dozens of homes along the proposed 710 Freeway extension after orders by Gov. Jerry Brown and the state legislature.
Caltrans decided to not go with the proposed 710 Freeway extension plan that would have brought a surface route through the area where the homes were located.
The proposed surface route would have connected Valley Boulevard in Alhambra to the 210 Freeway in Pasadena.
Since Caltrans will no longer go with the project, the homes located in El Sereno, South Pasadena and Pasadena will go onto the market in three phases.
Other proposed projects still up for consideration include a tunnel, dedicated busway, and light-rail line.
Those who owned or were renting the homes, which consisted of 39 single-family homes and three multi-family units, will have priority to purchase the homes at an affordable price, according to Caltrans.
