Man re-arrested for hotel sexual assault

EL SEGUNDO The previous incident occurred in January 2007.

Police say the victims in this case were offered high-paying jobs, expense accounts and company cars, but first they would have to submit to a one-on-one interview inside a hotel room, and that's where police say Oscar Corea would allegedly assault his victims.

Thirty-eight-year-old Oscar Corea is back behind bars, arrested again, accused of posing as a corporate executive and luring women to the Hacienda Hotel in El Segundo.

"He tells the girls that he is a business executive with AT&T and that he's here in town looking for people to hire, that he is offering a high-paying job, benefits," said El Segundo Police Sergeant Danny Kim. "He goes so far as to say he'll put them up in apartments, give them cars, that type of thing."

Corea was first arrested in January 2007 after police in Los Angeles learned of his scheme. Corea pleaded no contest to assault with intent to commit rape, and served 10 months in jail.

Last week, an employee at the Hacienda Hotel spotted Corea again.

"The employee saw this man with several other girls and became concerned," said Sgt. Kim. "The police were called and we went to investigate."

Police in El Segundo say Corea had lured four women to the hotel with similar promises of a job at AT&T. The told investigators he had touched them inappropriately.

"And he would arrange what he would call 'interviews' with these young ladies at his hotel room," said Sgt. Kim. "Once the young ladies went to his hotel room, he would talk to them and on some occasions, sexually assault them."

Corea is being held without bail. Investigators in El Segundo say they think there might be more victims, young women who have not come forward. Anyone with information on Corea is asked to call detectives at the El Segundo Police Dept., at (310) 524-2200.

Investigators think Corea was targeting women between the ages of 18 to about 25.
