Mission Viejo mall shooter dies

MISSION VIEJO Deputies responded to an armed robbery call at Fredric H. Rubel jewelry store around 5:30 P.M. Sunday.

According to police, the suspect shot at deputies outside the mall in a parking structure.

Deputies returned fire and shot the man. The suspect was transported to the hospital.

No other injuries were reported.

The mall was shut down immediately following the shooting.
