The 747 area code will share the same region as 818.
The good news is valley customers won't have to change their existing home or cell phone numbers.
The new 747 area code numbers will be issued to new customers next year.
Valley residents will be required to dial the full number, 10 digits with area code, even when calling within the 8-1-8 area.
