Boy scares burglars using Tae Kwon Do

VICTORVILLE, Calif. Daniel Garcia has gone to Tae Kwon Do training for eight months. He's a purple belt, but is about to go yellow. But his mom, Adriana, didn't think he'd have to put his training to use so quickly.

"[I'm] just glad that everything is okay and everybody's all right," said Adriana.

Daniel confronted three burglars inside his Victorville home last Friday. He says it happened so fast he didn't have time to think.

"[I was] quite scared, but I know I was protected because I did Tae Kwon Do," said Daniel.

Daniel came home about 1:30 p.m. on Friday and walked in the front door. He thought no one was home, but then he saw three men on the staircase.

That's when he sprung into action.

"He wouldn't let go, so my little brother ran to four houses down. He wouldn't let go of my sweater, so I kicked him in the face," Daniel said.

Daniel says the burglar pushed him out of the house, but the three men got so spooked they took off themselves. Daniel and his two younger brothers went to a neighbor's home and called police.

The three men got away, but Adriana says if not for her son's training, it might have been much worse.

"Oh yes, definitely. I think if it wasn't for Daniel coming home, they would have cleaned us all out," said Adriana.

"I'm like a little kid to him, and I bet you he's thinking, 'Oh, what's he going to do to me? What is he going to do?' So then I know I surprised him because I was in Tae Kwon Do, and he probably never knew that," said Daniel.
