Officers say the shooters were aiming for male victim who was driving in his car.
He was hit and died at the scene.
LAPD officer Jason Lee said a woman walking home was hit by stray gunfire and also died.
"It appears she was shot with a bullet intended for the initial victim," said Lee.
No suspect information was immediately available.
