Drea de Matteo moves to Wisteria Lane

LOS ANGELES "I'm on the show for this year, we'll see how bad she is and how much they want her to survive," said actress Drea de Matteo.

Drea moved onto Wisteria Lane as the mysterious Angie Bolen. That's because, when it comes to "Desperate Housewives," new neighbors always arrive with secrets.

"We're discovering it as we go along, establishing our family.. don't know her secrets yet," said Drea.

While you'll be seeing plenty of Drea on "Desperate Housewives" there's one place she rarely visits in real life.

"I don't like red carpet events. I'm happy and grateful, but its hard to get roles unless you're on a red carpet with a specific type of handbag," said Drea. "So I said, 'I'm gonna step out of this for a while,' and I did. I stopped begging, stopped being a part and then they came and asked me to be on this show."

Drea's got a good track record going with "Desperate Housewives" now and with the years she spent on "The Sopranos." But when it comes to fame, she prefers being an actress over being a star.

"No one cares about me when paps are around -- believe me. I was photographed with a girlfriend of mine and everyone kept thinking I was Portia," said Drea. "Then recently I was coming out of DH and they keep asking me who's inside. No one cares about me which is awesome."

You'll see Drea again on "Desperate Housewives" Sunday night at 9 p.m. on ABC7.
