Children's Wonderland has new home at Tam-O-Shanter

This year, the holiday favorite has a new home for a reindeer, a rocking horse, and a piece of Santa's workshop. These holiday displays are now sitting in the parking lot of Tam-O-Shanter. "We are just kind of taking them piece by piece and repairing what needs to be done," says Jamie Moan, director of marketing of Tam-O-Shanter.

Lucas County held Children's Wonderland at the Rec Center for 45 years, but last year the county announced it wouldn't be able to hold the event because the company that leases the center had already scheduled multiple events.

Now, the Sylvania Area Joint Recreation board stepped in and purchased the displays for the minimal cost of a dollar. "This is an event that families and grandparents and kids have enjoyed forever and we think it's important to keep it alive in the northwest Ohio area," says Moan.

The new Children's Wonderland will consist of all the old decorations, but there will be some new displays too. "We've added an interactive zone to it, meaning there's going to be a lot of things kids can do. Some hands on decorating ornaments, face-painting photo booth," says Moan.

The holiday tradition will open at its new location December 15. Children's Wonderland will be open to the public Monday through Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children age 3 and older.
