Largest county gang-injunction order issued

LOS ANGELES

The gang-injunction order encompasses a 16-square-mile area in the San Gabriel Valley.

The injunction prohibits members of two area gangs from congregating in the proscribed zone.

Gang members are also forbidden from possessing weapons, narcotics or graffiti tools in the area, according to the district attorney's office.

The Puente 13 and Bassett Grande gangs were the target of the injunction. The district attorney's office said there are more than 1,000 members of Puente 13, and more than 300 members of Bassett Grande.

The gang-injunction area includes Bassett Park on the 500 block of Vineland Avenue, and La Puente Park on the 500 block of North Glendora Avenue. The injunction area also includes the city of Industry, part of West Covina and parts of unincorporated areas of Avocado Heights, Bassett, South San Jose Hills, West Puente Valley and Valinda, according to the district attorney's office.

The permanent order replaces a temporary injunction issued in April against the two gangs.
