Glow in the dark cats help AIDS research

LOS ANGELES

Scientists have developed the strain of green-glowing cats with cells that resist infection from a virus that causes AIDS in felines.

The study, published in the journal Nature Methods, involved inserting monkey genes into feline eggs.

Jellyfish genes were also inserted so the altered genes would be easy to spot.

Researchers say the study may help prevent the disease in cats and help advance AIDS research in people.
