Katy Perry visits children in Madagascar on UNICEF trip

REPUBLIC OF MADAGASCAR, Africa

She visited children at a school that was rebuilt after being destroyed by a cyclone. She also participated in singing and jumping rope.

She also commented on the importance of education in one of the poorest countries in the world.

"The fact that they walk 45 minutes at 6 o'clock in the morning, and it's 2013, is a testament to how appreciative they are about their education," she said.

Along with visiting the school, she stopped by a nutrition center and witnessed a range of programs in health, child protection, sanitation and hygiene.

This was Perry's first visit in support of UNICEF.
