A woman walking with a child was shot and killed when she was caught in the crossfire Friday afternoon in Chicago's Parkway Gardens neighborhood.

CHICAGO -- A woman walking with a child was shot and killed when she was caught in the crossfire Friday afternoon in Chicago's Parkway Gardens neighborhood. A family member confirmed to WLS-TV that the woman was Chicago Bulls star Dwyane Wade's cousin.

Wade is currently not in town and recently joined an ESPN roundtable talking about the violence plaguing the city of Chicago.

Police said two men approached another man who was walking with the woman and opened fire around 3:30 p.m. in the 6300-block of South Calumet. The shooting took place near Dulles School of Excellence.

The 32-year-old woman, who walking with a stroller, was struck in the head and arm. She was taken to Stroger Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators said the woman who was shot was an innocent bystander and not the intended victim.

A relative took custody of the child, police said. The child is unharmed.

One person is being questioned by police. The shooting remains under investigation.
