LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Donald Sterling lost an appeal to regain ownership of the Los Angeles Clippers Monday after an appeals court judge deemed the sale correct.

Sterling had presented arguments on Oct. 28 questioning the legality of ownership over the NBA basketball team. In the arguments, Sterling claimed that an L.A. Superior Court judge should have denied his estranged wife authority to sell the team.

In court documents, appeals court judges said Sterling "failed to demonstrate any legal error."

Shelly Sterling sold the Clippers to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer in August for $2 billion.
