WESTWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A suspended UCLA player will not be facing felony charges for the alleged theft of an Uber driver's cellphone.

Los Angeles city attorney's spokesman Frank Mateljan says that the district attorney has referred Ishmael Adams' case to city prosecutors who will now determine if any misdemeanor charges are warranted.

Adams, 21, was suspended indefinitely by head coach Jim Mora following his arrest by campus police on Aug. 30.

A UCLA Athletic Department spokesman said Tuesday he was unaware of any change in that status.

Adams, a Woodland Hills native, started every game the previous two seasons for the Bruins, making the All-Pac-12 team last season.
