
Evacuation orders issued for Santa Monica due to "immediate threat to life"
The city of Santa Monica issued an evacuation order for all areas north of San Vicente, saying there's an "immediate threat to life".


LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- At least 27 people are believed to be dead and more than a dozen others remain unaccounted for as multiple wildfires, fueled by severe drought conditions and strong Santa Ana winds, continue burning in Southern California.
The Palisades Fire, burning in the Pacific Palisades, and the Eaton Fire, burning in Altadena, have forced thousands to evacuate and destroyed more than 12,000 structures.

The city of Santa Monica issued an evacuation order for all areas north of San Vicente, saying there's an "immediate threat to life".


Firefighters are battling a wind-driven brush fire burning in the Eaton Canyon area near Altadena. The fire has grown to about 400 acres, and mandatory evacuations have been issued.

The Angeles National Forest issued evacuations for the following areas:
Altadena Drive, Kinneloa Canyon Road, Outpost Lane, Glen Springs, Coolidge, Miranda, Roosevelt, Veranda, Kenclare, Foxridge, Canyon Close and Grand Oak.

The Los Angeles Fire Department is asking off-duty personnel to reach out and share their availability as the department looks to get more resources and boost staffing overnight. Any off-duty personnel is being asked to call 213-576-8962 and report their availability.

A firefighter confirmed to ABC7 that Pacific Palisades Charter High School is currently on fire.
Across the street, Theatre Palisades playhouse was seen burning as well.
