On Friday, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Marijuana Enforcement Team members along with deputies from the Morongo Basin Station served six search warrants at multiple residences in unincorporated areas of the county.
Authorities found that each location - four in Landers and six in Yucca Valley - had illegal outdoor marijuana grows.
The investigation and seizures led to the arrest of eight people: two Fresno residents, 24-year-old Andrew Keophaky and 41-year-old Chanthavone Chanthiratm; two Bakersfield residents, 62-year-old Nina Vongsouthy and 62-year-old Houmphanousine Houmphaeng; two Landers residents 24-year-old Julian Hernandez-Garcia and 24-year-old Hermenegilou Silva-Valencia; and two Yucca Valley residents 35-year-old Justin Maddalema and 37-year-old Marcus Mills.
Three of the suspects were arrested on suspicion of felony marijuana cultivation. Authorities said the property owners for each residence would be notified of the drug violations.
