SACRAMENTO (KABC) -- A suspect has been arrested in the killing of Clippers forward Matt Barnes' aunt, Sacramento police said Tuesday.
Police said suspect Michael Williams was taken into custody with the help of a citizen tip. He was found in the Sacramento area, police said.
According to Barnes, Michael Williams is his aunt's husband and the main suspect in the case. Michael Williams allegedly stabbed his wife, Tanganyika Williams, then left her for dead in Sacramento three weeks ago.
Last week, Barnes reached out to his Twitter and Instagram followers to help catch his aunt's suspected killer -- posting a photo of Michael Williams on his social accounts and asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the police or the family directly. The posts went viral.
Barnes said that was all part of his plan to help police.
"I got some of my other friends to repost it, and really just have the whole city of Sacramento on the lookout for this guy." Barnes told "Good Morning America." "Because when it's your family, you just feel like you can do more. You want to do more."
