LAKE FOREST, Calif. (KABC) -- A person of interest is being sought after a hit-and-run crash in Lake Forest that left a motorcyclist dead and his wife seriously injured.
Drew and Joanne Ketter, of Midway City, were out on a motorcycle ride shortly before 3 p.m. Monday when a stolen maroon-colored Honda slammed into them on a winding road near Modjeska Canyon.
Drew Ketter, 55, was transported to a hospital, where he died about an hour later. His wife remains hospitalized with multiple broken bones.
After the collision, the car was found at the bottom of a ravine, said Lt. Jeff Hallock of the Orange County Sheriff's Department. Investigators believe the Honda's driver fled the scene on foot.
A worker at a Santa Ana tow yard said the sedan was stolen from the lot more than three hours before the fatal crash.
Surveillance video from the facility shows a heavyset man, carrying a bag, walking around the vehicle.
"He looks to almost be inspecting the car. ... At some point he opens up the hood," Hallock said. "But at that point he ends up stealing the vehicle from the tow yard."
Investigators consider the man to be a person of interest in the collision since it's unclear if he was driving the Honda at the time of the collision.
Hallock described him as "possibly Hispanic, seems like a rather large guy," with "a specific gait to his walk."
Anyone with information about the man's identity or the crash is asked to call the Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855) TIP-OCCS.
Drew Ketter is survived by his wife and two children.
