Unarmed suspect injured in Lennox deputy-involved shooting

LENNOX, Calif. (KABC) -- An unarmed suspect was hospitalized following a deputy-involved shooting in Lennox on Sunday, according to Los Angeles County sheriff's officials.

Homicide detectives responded to the shooting in the 10200 block of Inglewood Avenue at about 12:15 p.m.

Officials said a deputy was driving and spotted the suspect spray painting graffiti on a wall.

The sheriff's department said the suspect ran into a nearby home. It was unclear if the suspect lived there, knew someone who lived there, or had ran into a random home to hide.

Authorities said the homeowner allowed the deputy to enter the home to look for the suspect, and while in the home, the deputy found the suspect hiding in the shower of a bathroom.

The sheriff's department said the deputy then shot the suspect in the arm.

The suspect was taken to the hospital and was expected to survive his injuries, according to the sheriff's department.

A weapon was not found at the scene, investigators stated.

No deputies were injured during the incident, and there were no outstanding suspects.
