Woman caught on video violently throwing dog to the ground in NorCal

FAIRFIELD, Calif. -- Fairfield police are searching for a woman who was caught on surveillance video grabbing her pug by the neck and then throwing it to the ground during a fight with her then-boyfriend.

The video captured by a nearby security camera was posted on Facebook. As a result, people who watched it began calling authorities.

The woman has been identified as Brandi Chin. In the surveillance video, the helpless dog rolls over several times after being thrown by Chin.

Ben Perez is Chin's now ex-boyfriend. He's seen in the video picking up the pug, who coincidentally is also named Ben. He says he and Chin had a heated argument but why she threw her own dog is beyond him.

"Maybe she meant it to hurt me by doing it, I'm not sure I can't really speak for her, but I know that the dog is fine," Perez said.

Even so, Solano County authorities still want to find Chin and her dog. She faces possible animal cruelty charges, although finding her has been difficult. Chin moved out of Perez's house as soon as they broke up.

"We've been tracking down every lead that we get talking with people who know her. They have advised us that the last known whereabouts was in Vallejo," said Ofc. Alex Schwarz, Humane Animal Services.

Perez has mixed feelings about all of this. While he doesn't think Chin should have treated the dog the way she did, he doesn't think she should face any charges.

"I don't think she should be charged anything like that at all. That dog loves her you know. She loves the dog. They're tight. You would be able to see that if you see them together," Perez said.

Fairfield police and Humane Animal Services want to know if Chin has been violent with her dog before. Authorities are now counting on the public to help find them.
