8 children, 2 adults taken to hospital after van crash on 170 Freeway in North Hollywood

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A van crash involving eight children caused traffic delays on the 170 Freeway in North Hollywood on Monday afternoon.

A van spun out on the southbound 170 Freeway at Whitsett Avenue as heavy storms moved through the area.

In total, 10 patients -- including two adults and eight children -- were being treated, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. They were all being transported to local hospitals in fair condition to be checked out.

AIR7 video from above the scene shows firefighters tending to children with multiple ambulances present as traffic began to grow on the 170 Freeway southbound.

Three left lanes were closed, causing traffic delays.
