ALTADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- Nine months after losing their home course to the Eaton fire, the PGA Jr. League Altadena All Stars, are now heading to the West Regional Finals.
When the original course for the team, Altadena Golf Course, was burned down in January, it was a very devastating loss for the team.
"First I was devastated to hear that Altadena was destroyed because I used to go there a lot, and it was so sad because I loved the facility so much," said Travis Elegado, Altadena All Stars player.
Their love for the sport and compassion for their community is what gave them the momentum they needed to get to this point today.
"Honestly, it's just that we wanted to represent our community for all of the people who got affected by the Eaton fires, Altadena fires, and everyone who got displaced," said Altadena All Star, Sydney Mabasa.
The Altadena All Stars believe that teamwork will help them not only win the West Regionals but also take them to the nationals.
"I feel like if we're all able to work together, we'll have a good shot at making it to the finals," said Elegado.
The Altadena All Stars are very adaptable, and they consider everywhere they play their new home. When the Altadena Golf Course comes back, they will make sure every practice and tournament will be a special moment.
"It will mean so much to all of us because we made so many memories there," Elegado expressed.
