Car goes over cliff, lands hundreds of feet below road in Malibu

MALIBU, Calif. (KABC) -- Crews rescued two people after a car went over a cliff in Malibu, landing several hundred feet below the roadway.

The incident happened just before 8 p.m. Wednesday near Saddle Peak and Stunt Road.

The car involved was a rare Nissan GTR model, similar to those used in the "Fast and Furious" movies.

The driver and passenger suffered only minor injuries.

A witness who saw it all happened described the crash.

"He hit the edge of the cliff... and it was kind of inclined. So he kind of lost traction, spinning out and he hit the cliff and then he kind of flew a bit and got airborne," the witness said. "When he was coming through, I was going to record it because it was a nice car and then as I'm pulling out my phone, I just saw it happen."

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
