Mom rescues cat from the middle of the Cajon Pass, video shows

Not all heroes wear capes! Sometimes it's a mom wearing a T-shirt and leggings.

Ryann McCaffrey was in the car with her husband and kids, heading out of town on vacation, when she suddenly spotted a terrified kitten on top of a highway divider wall in the middle of the Cajon Pass.

She quickly pulled over and paused the vacation road trip to try and save the young cat. Ryann shared a video of the rescue with Eyewitness News.

As her husband recorded it all, Ryann was able to quickly grab the kitten - which then proceeded to bite and scratch her. But Ryann didn't let go.

Another driver also stopped to try and help, but Ryann already had the cat.

When she got it back in the car, they gave the thirsty cat water.

The family took the kitten with them on their vacation and brought it back home.

They decided to name the formerly feral cat Pharrell, like the musician, who is now a permanent member of the McCaffrey family.
