Celeste Rivas Hernandez was not pregnant when she was killed, prosecutors say

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Prosecutors do not believe Lake Elsinore teenager Celeste Rivas Hernandez was pregnant at the time of her killing, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office told ABC News on Wednesday.

D4vd, the 21-year-old singer whose legal name is David Burke, is accused of fatally stabbing Rivas Hernandez inside his Hollywood Hills home last year and later dismembering her body.

Prosecutors allege he killed Rivas Hernandez because she was going to reveal their sexual relationship and damage his music career.

The development addresses speculation that the 14-year-old may have been killed because she was pregnant.

A judge ruled Monday that there is enough evidence to put Burke on trial in the killing and dismemberment of Rivas Hernandez.

Los Angeles Judge Charlaine Olmedo decided that evidence presented during a preliminary hearing provided probable cause for a trial on charges of murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 and unlawful mutilation of human remains.

An arraignment for Burke is to be held on Aug. 31, and a trial could happen as soon as 60 days later. He previously pleaded not guilty to all charges.
