
FAIRFIELD, Calif. -- One person was killed and three others were injured in a shooting at a high school parking lot following a graduation ceremony Wednesday evening in Northern California, police said.
The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. at Fairfield High School, where the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District was hosting a graduation ceremony for Sem Yeto High School.
Gunfire erupted just as the graduation ceremony ended and people were gathering to take pictures. Witnesses reported hearing rapid gunfire followed by screams and panicked people running for cover.
Police say the incident remains an active scene and no suspect is in custody.
There is no information about the victims and whether they are students.
The three injured are being treated at a hospital and their current condition is not known at this time.
