In December 2025,Indianaquarterback Fernando Mendozatook home theHeisman Trophy,opening up the possibility of becoming a Heisman winner and a national champion in the same season. After the Hoosiers defeated the Miami Hurricanes in the 2025-26 CFP National Championship, Mendoza became the latest player to accomplish the rare feat.
