
LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- More than $1.8 million has been raised to support the family of actor James Van Der Beek, who died Wednesday after a years-long battle with colorectal cancer.
According to the fundraising page, donations on GoFundMe surpassed the original goal of $1.5 million. The money is intended to help the family cope with medical expenses.
Van Der Beek, 48, was best known for his role on the hit television series "Dawson's Creek."
He is survived by his wife, Kimberly, and their six children.
