Large fire erupts at Riverside apartment complex, 2 buildings evacuated

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- A large fire broke out at an apartment complex in Riverside Friday, forcing the evacuation of two buildings and sending up a thick plume of smoke.

The fire was reported at the University Riverside Gardens apartment building on Iowa Avenue near Everton Place around 11:40 a.m.

AIR7 was over the scene as raging flames shot through the roof of the structure. Firefighters on the ground and on ladder trucks were seen shooting water at the flames from various angles.

No injuries have been reported. It's unclear what started the fire.
