New memorial banner unveiled for victims of Windsor Hills crash

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- It's been three years since six people - including a pregnant woman and her unborn child - were killed in a violent crash at a Windsor Hills intersection.

Now, there are renewed calls for justice as the suspect in the case awaits trial.

What happened?

The crash happened on Aug. 4, 2022, at the intersection of La Brea and Slauson avenues when a speeding Mercedes-Benz ran a red light and smashed into multiple cars.

Investigators determined that Nicole Lorraine Linton was driving at 130 mph at the time of the crash.

The collision and its fiery aftermath were caught on surveillance video from a nearby business.

Those killed in the crash included 23-year-old Asherey Ryan of Los Angeles, who relatives said was 8 1/2 months pregnant, along with her unborn child, who was to be named Armani Lester, her 11-month-old son Alonzo Quintero and her 24-year-old boyfriend, Reynold Lester of Los Angeles, who were in a Jaguar that California Highway Patrol Investigator Hector Castaneda testified was split "in half."

Nathesia Lewis, 43, and her friend, 38-year-old Lynette Noble, who were in a Nissan, were also killed.

Nine other people, including Linton, were injured, with a total of nine vehicles involved in the collision and its aftermath.

New memorial for "The Slauson 6"

On Sunday, a new memorial banner was unveiled at the Slauson 6 Memorial Bench and Community Garden, which was donated by Rocket Stores and was founded by civil rights activist Najee Ali.

"Let us be clear: this was not an accident - it was a horrific act of recklessness and disregard for human life," read a statement from Ali. "The Slauson 6 were mothers, daughters, sons, partners, and soon-to-be parents. Their absence is still deeply felt. The Windsor Hills community will never be the same."

Linton has been charged with six counts of murder in connection with the crash.

She has another hearing later this month.
