At least 5 injured in crash on 5 Freeway in Mission Hills involving LA County sheriff's inmate van

MISSION HILLS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A Los Angeles County sheriff's inmate van was involved in a crash Monday morning on the 5 Freeway in Mission Hills, injuring at least five people.

The incident was reported just before 9 a.m. on the northbound 5 Freeway at the 118.

The Los Angeles Fire Department listed the incident as a multi-vehicle collision and said five people suffered minor injuries. It's unclear if any of the patients were inmates.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
