SoCal to see heat, sunshine as high surf advisory remains in effect

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Southern California can expect sunshine and very warm conditions to remain in the region Thursday.

Many areas will see temperatures in the mid-to-upper 80s and even the low 90s in some spots as a ridge of high pressure builds.

A High Surf Advisory is in effect through 8 p.m. Thursday for dangerous rip currents in coastal communities in Los Angeles County. The surf could be anywhere from seven to 10 feet, with some spots seeing up to 12-foot waves. A Beach Hazard Statement remains in effect for coastal areas in Ventura and Orange counties.

Los Angeles and Orange counties Thursday will be mostly sunny after morning fog dissipates. Expect a high of 84 degrees and a low of 63. Expect similar conditions Friday before a slight cooldown over the weekend.

The valleys and Inland Empire Thursday can expect sunshine with a high of 91 degrees and a low of 62. Highs are expected to stay in the low 90s through the weekend.

Beaches will be mostly sunny, with a high of 74 degrees and a low of 65. Temperatures remains in the mid 70s for the next several days.

Mountain communities can expect sunny skies Thursday, with a high of 83 degrees and a low of 46. Temperatures are expected to stay in the low 80s through early next week.

The deserts Thursday will see sunny and hot conditions with a high of 101 degrees and a low of 68. Palm Springs is expected to reach a high of 108 degrees.
