Man arrested after deputies say he kidnapped ex during attempted carjacking in Santa Clarita

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was arrested after deputies said he kidnapped his ex-girlfriend during an attempted carjacking in Santa Clarita.

Investigators said the man followed the woman to her car Saturday night. When she tried to get away, deputies said he grabbed her, forced her back into the vehicle and drove off with her.

Authorities said a short pursuit followed before the suspect fled on foot in the neighborhood of Saugus.

Deputies later caught the man nearby and took him into custody.

No injuries were reported. The investigation remains ongoing.
