GLENDALE, Calif. (KABC) -- Glendale police shot and killed a man who they say assaulted his neighbor with a knife, before he moved toward officers while armed with the weapon.
The incident unfolded around 9 p.m. Monday night on Honolulu Avenue near the 210 Freeway after officers responded to a report of assault with a knife, according to the Glendale Police Department.
When officers arrived, they found the injured victim. Police say the suspect, who they identified as the victim's neighbor, walked out of a nearby home armed with a knife.
Officers confronted him, but the suspect ran away. They chased him on foot for a short time before police say the armed man moved toward them with the knife. That's when officers opened fire.
The suspect died at the scene. The victim was taken to the hospital, but is expected to be OK.
Shortly after officers arrived, some type of dispute took place and they opened fire on a man described as a suspect. That man, who has not been identified, died at the scene.
No officers were injured.
