SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- Simi Valley police are investigating a double shooting that left a married couple dead on Sunday.
Officers say the shooting happened just after noon outside a home in the 500 block of Hawks Bill Place.
Police arrived at the scene and found a man and a woman down in the driveway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. They were taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries, where they were both later pronounced dead.
Det. Rick Morton said the victims, a man and wife, were both in their 60s.
Police believe the shooting was a targeted attack and there is no active threat to the public, though a suspect has yet to be identified or arrested. The shooter reportedly got into a vehicle and fled the scene.
"We don't believe this is a random act," said Det. Rick Morton. "We do believe the victims were targeted."
Morton said neighbors speculated that the suspect may be the stepson of one of the victims, though police have yet to confirm that lead.
Investigators said a suicide in Chino on Sunday may possibly be connected to the double homicide, and Simi Valley police are also looking into that incident.
