Mary Elizabeth Winstead: new film "going to be a scary one!"

LOS ANGELES -- Imagine discovering that the nanny caring for your children isn't who she claims to be!

That's the chilling premise of Hulu's "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle," starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Maika Monroe.

The film had its world premiere at the Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank, California and On The Red Carpet spoke with the stars!

Monroe called the role "probably the most fun that I've had in a role in a long time because I got to play the villain."

"We got to kind of live in a house as this almost happy family for a while before things start turning sinister," said Winstead.

"It was so cool to be able to play that out in real time, like just get to show up and enjoy each other's company, getting to know one another and then slowly have Maika coming in and starting to kind of scratch at the surface of what's going on in that house."

"I was the main cause of the unrest in the house, Monroe added. "So for me, I actually quite enjoyed it, but I think maybe for the rest of the cast it wasn't quite as fun."

Prepare yourself, Winstead teased, "Get your popcorn, it's going to be a scary one!"

The film is a modern retelling of the 1992 psychological thriller starring Rebecca De Mornay who won an MTV Movie Award that year for Best Villain.

The newly reimagined "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle" premieres October 22 on Hulu.

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Hulu and this ABC station.
