Road-rage incident ends at LA High School; student in custody

MID-WILSHIRE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A high school in the Mid-Wilshire area was on lockdown Wednesday morning after a road-rage incident led to an armed juvenile threatening a victim with a gun, authorities said.

Officers responded at 8:15 a.m. to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at Los Angeles High School at 4650 West Olympic Blvd., just east of Rimpau Boulevard, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department said.

After the road-rage confrontation, the suspect allegedly ran onto the campus and discarded the firearm somewhere on the premises, the LAPD said.

Police apprehended the suspect, a student at the school, and asked that the campus be placed on lockdown as the search for the gun continued, the spokesperson said.

The lockdown was lifted around 1:24 p.m. and the school resumed with normal operations, according to a spokesperson with the Los Angeles Unified School District.

No injuries were reported.
