Minibike mall rider arrested for allegedly trying to hit security officer in Torrance

TORRANCE, Calif. (KABC) -- A man is in custody after riding a minibike inside the Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance and allegedly trying to hit a security officer.

Police say it happened in late October when 21-year-old Romio Dontee Michael rode the gas-powered minibike through the busy food court and even into some stores.

Torrance police say after mall security was contacted, Michael attempted to hit a security officer with the minibike.

He's facing a charge of assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly trying to hit the officer.

Police served a search warrant at Michael's North Hollywood home and arrested him on Wednesday.

Officers took the mini bike for evidence, according to police.
