The woman, identified as Lucero San Pedro Castro of Baldwin Park, was an employee of the warehouse where she targeted two other store employees Monday, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.

Police say the 29-year-old shot and injured one of the male employees. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds but is expected to survive. The second male employee was not hit by gunfire.

Castro fled the scene on Skylab Road before officers arrived.

A shooting broke out early Monday morning in the parking lot of a California Closets store in Huntington Beach, leaving one man injured.

Several hours later, South Gate police officers tried to pull over a vehicle that was reportedly wanted for its involvement in the Huntington Beach shooting.

Castro stopped in a driveway in the 8600 block of San Carlos Avenue. During the traffic stop, she reportedly pointed a handgun at an officer, and that's when police opened fire, shooting her.

She later died from her injuries.

Police have not released a motive for the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Anthony Pham at (714) 878-5640.
