NORTH HILLS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- New video details the moments before Los Angeles police officers opened fire on a man who was armed with a replica handgun in North Hills.

The incident happened on September 10 when officers were responding to a call about a man armed with a weapon.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the caller said that the man - later identified as 50-year-old Gustavo Ramirez - was armed with a glass bottle and a firearm.

Police found the suspect near the area of Orion Avenue and Parthenia Street.

"Upon contact, the officers attempted to gain Ramirez's compliance by issuing verbal commands," said LAPD in a statement about the incident. "Ramirez failed to comply, pointed a handgun at the officers and an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS) occurred."

Ramirez was sent to the hospital where he later died.

The handgun used by Ramirez was later determined to be a black plastic replica handgun, which was recovered at the scene and booked as evidence.

Several days after the shooting, LAPD identified the officer involved in the shooting as Miguel Suarez.

The shooting remains under investigation.
