LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A Pacoima father is being accused of leaving his six-month-old daughter unattended in a stroller outside his home early Christmas morning.
Neighbors reported hearing the baby crying outside the Pacoima home at about 2:10 a.m., Los Angeles city attorney officials said. The temperature outside was below 50 degrees and the baby was allegedly found uncovered.
Police found Jose Chavarria, 29, intoxicated and passed out on the couch inside the home. He was allegedly belligerent and struggled with officers before his arrest, officials said.
Chavarria was charged with two counts of child endangerment and one count of resisting arrest. If convicted, he could face up to two years in jail and $2,000 in fines.
The child was placed under the care of the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services.
Chavarria was being held on $100,000 bail. His arraignment was scheduled for Monday.
